citizen of Maryland.

Originally "Brasseuir"; came w/ bro, Robert, (French Huguenots) to Va in 1653,
m. to Mary 1658, Calvert Co. Benois Commissioned a Justice for co in 1661. 1662
Naturalized, name chg to Benjamin. At Benj's death wife Mary, had a pre-nuptial
cont w/Thomas Starling, at same time recording her will and naming all her
children by deceased husb. Bro Robert died w/o issue 1665. Each generation of
Brashears has used a diff spelling of the French surname "Brasseuir" meaning
"Lord of the Arm" or "Master by Right of Strength:" Old home place known as
"Brashears Purchase", on the Patuxent River. The "Brashears" was a stage line
for many years. Gen Lafayette dined at this house while on his way from
Washington to Penn. The old house built of stone is still standing. An extract
from the Albany Evening News, p 61, dated Mar 12, 1925, stated "The Pointed
Firs" Brashear home at Castlelon-on-the-land & located at upper Marboro,
capitol of Prince Georges Co, Md, where Benois (Benjamin) Brasheas was granted
letters of denization (naturalization) by Cecil Calvert, (Lord Baltimore) on
1662. In 1790 when the 1st census of Md was taken theree were 25 of the
Brashears names listed as householders w/ their families & slaves. Some later
moved into Ps, Va, Ky, SC, and other states. Benois has a patent of land of 300
acres at hts head of Indian Crek, a branch of the Wester Branch of Nansemond
River, Md (Patent 4-12-1653, Valentine Papers-vol 1, pg 40) Benois and Mary had
their will probated 5-23-1663. Parents: Robert , Sr BRASHER and Florence BRASHER(U).

Harris Brazier son of David and Elizabeth Brazier who had land on Rocky Creek
between the towns Troutman and Oswalt. The original grant of this land was in
Rowen Co in 1787 to Richard Remmington. He sold some of this to John Huntsman
in 1791 in Iredell Co. John Huntsman let David Brazier have 100 acres. In 1801
David Brazier and his wife Elizabeth let their son Harris Brazier of Iredell Co
have 50 acres. In 1802 David Brazier deeded to his daughter Elizabeth all his
land being on the north side of Rocky Creek containing 50 acres together with
dwelling and stock without any manner of condition. Wtinesses: Wm Lukey & Alex
McKenzie. No wife signed. Another deed on 1804 Andrew Lukey to Elizabeth
Brazier 50 acres. Henry Brazier was witness. So we know that David and
Elizabeth Brazier were the parents of Harris and Elizabeth Brazier but I find
no record showing Henry Braziers relationship.
